Christina Inge lecture on MASS Quilt Documentation Oct. 21

CHRISTINA INGE TO SPEAK ON MASSACHUSETTS QUILT DOCUMENTION PROJECT OCTOBER 21 AT DEDHAM HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Christina Inge, a quilt expert, will present a lecture on “The Massachusetts Quilt Documentation Project” at 7:30 pm on October 21 at the Dedham Historical Society Auditorium 615 High Street, Dedham MA. Lecture admission is free for DHS members and $5 for non-members.

Inge was PR and Marketing Manager for the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell. In 2009, she prepared the publicity for the exhibition of the Massachusetts Quilt Documentation Project exhibit, Our Common Wealth. A publicist and marketing consultant Inge is also an avid quilter and knitter, and writes the blogs traditionalquilting.com and simpleknitting.wordpress.com.

Since its establishment in 1994, The Massachusetts Quilt Documentation Project has documented nearly 6,000 pre-1950 quilts originating or currently owned in this state. Ninety-four historical societies and hundreds of private owners have been served by the project. Also known as MassQuilts, the project encourages the study and preservation of quilts and demonstrates that these textiles convey important insights about the lives of Massachusetts women from the colonial period to the present.

DHS office hours are Tuesday-Friday from 9 am – 4 pm. The Library/Archives is open Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am-4 pm. The Museum is open Tuesday – Friday, 12 noon – 4 pm. Both the Library/Archives and Museum are open even dated Saturdays, 1 – 4 pm. Admission is free for DHS members; non-members $5 per person for the Library/Archives; and $2 for adults, $1 for children for the Museum.
