The Daisy Scouts (K-1) visited the Dedham Historical Society & Museum for a recent weekly meeting this June; this was the first time the Daisies have visited DHSM as a group.
The girls learned about some of the women who lived in Dedham in the past, including Deborah Ames, Hannah Shuttleworth (whose funds built the DHSM building), Katharine Pratt (Arts & Crafts silversmith/jeweler/artist), and Maude Davenport (Dedham Pottery painter). Troup co-leader Janet Holmes brought ceramic bunny banks for the Daisies to color and paint, connecting them with Maude Davenport and the rabbits that traditionally decorate Dedham Pottery.
It was a fun evening and we look forward to the troop’s return, as they raise in the ranks of the Girl Scouts and as visitors. Thank you to the Daisy Troop leaders and parents who participated in the evening.
