Model Trains Returned During Dedham Square Holiday Stroll

Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd, 2023

Dedham Museum & Archive is delighted to share the news that the Holiday Trains returned for the 2023 Holiday Stroll!

Guests watched O-Scale locomotives running along the tracks as steam engines blow smoke and diesel engines race to deliver their passengers and holiday loads. Among the trains’ destinations were a main street aglow with lights and shops, all blanketed with a fresh winter snowfall.

The gift shop was also open, where visitors found an array of ornaments, Dedham Pottery designs from the Potting Shed, puzzles, books, and more. Plus, for the first time at the event, there were Silent Auction items for the entire family!

Tavern Night!
Friday, September 15, 2023
7:00-9:00 p.m.

Guests enjoyed an evening sampling more than twenty-five craft beers from local Massachusetts breweries at Tavern Night, 2023!

Each guest received a souvenir tasting glass and a Tasting Guide describing each brew. In addition to silent auction items from local businesses (including a basket donated by Jack’s Abby), the night was accompanied by live music performed by Mike Emery of Dedham School of Music, and light fare. And, for the first time, there was a dessert and coffee table, with coffee provided by Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company.

Breweries included Barrel House Z (Weymouth), Bone Up Brewing (Everett), Jack’s Abby (Framingham), Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company (Marlborough), Roundhead (Hyde Park), Small Change (Somerville), Twisted Fate (Danvers), and Wandering Soul (Beverly). Thank you to all the breweries that participated and provided their craft beer! And appreciation to Horse Thieves Tavern for donating beer from Barrel House Z.

Thank you for raising a glass while supporting local breweries, local businesses, and your local museum!

Soirée
Saturday, June 3, 2023

This year’s Soirée was held at the historic Nickerson House in Dedham. Guests enjoyed each other’s company and catering by local business owner, Johnny Burke of Johnny Burke Catering.

Set within beautiful landscaped and terraced grounds, the original Empire-style house was built in 1873 and was located on the site of what had been a large horse racing track. The property was later purchased by George Nickerson. He enlarged the residence and stylistically transformed it into a Colonial Revival structure, which was later further enhanced by subsequent owners to the house we see today.
